Our Classrooms

All of our classrooms use the Highscope Curriculum for Learning. At its heart, this curriculum builds on the innate curiosity in children, allowing them to make their own discoveries and build their own initiatives by creating plans, following through on their intentions, and reflecting on their learning. This Plan-Do-Review process is a trademark of the HighScope approach and is very reminiscent of the Scientific Method.

Additionally, all of our classrooms have STEAM Learning Labs.  All age groups have weekly music classes; and our preschoolers participate in LEGO Stem Education.

Little Seeds: The Little Seeds are our youngest learners, starting at 6 weeks of age. Our infant room ratio is 1 caregiver for every 4 children, with a maximum of 8 children in the room.

Even our youngest learners will be introduced to STEAM principles focusing on curiosity and exploration of their environment and selves.

Sprouts: Once Seeds are ready to transition to the Toddler Room, they become Sprouts. Our 1 year old room ratio is 1 caregiver for every 5 children, with a maximum of 10 children in a class.

Sprouts will be encouraged to further develop their curiosity and love of learning through the STEAM principles of learning.

Seedlings: Once Sprouts are ready to transition to the Toddler Room, they become Seedlings. Our 2 year old room ratio is 1 caregiver for every 5 children 24-30 months (7 children 30-36 months), with a maximum of 10 to 14 children in a class.

Seedlings will be encouraged to further develop their curiosity and love of learning through the STEAM principles of learning.

Saplings: The Saplings refer to the Preschool program at Maple Leaf Academy which starts at age 3. Saplings will be placed in rooms based on age and/or developmental readiness. For 3 year olds the ratio is 1 caregiver for every 10 children, with a maximum class size of 20.

Our Saplings will be fully immersed in STEAM learning, which at its foundation is about fostering curiosity and a love for learning.

Mighty Maples: The Mighty Maples refer to the Pre-K program at Maple Leaf Academy which starts at age 4. Maples will be placed in rooms based on age and/or developmental readiness. For 4 year olds the ratio is 1 caregiver for every 12 children, with a maximum class size of 24.  For 5 year olds the ratio is 1 caregiver for every 15 children, with a maximum class size of 30.

Our Maples will be fully immersed in STEAM learning as well, which at its foundation is about fostering curiosity and a love for learning. We believe that this curiosity and love of learning will best prepare them for Kindergarten.
